Immediate Interventions

• Educate about the effect of alcohol on the liver and on HCV treatment response
• Educate about risk of continued substance abuse (health and risk of contracting infectious disease)
• Use motivational interviewing to encourage engagement in harm reduction & recovery services
• Conduct further structured assessment of alcohol and/or substance use with SAMHSA-HRSA Screening Tools
